October

Grades 3-5
For the month of October (up to October 16th) students will continue with sideline soccer games. Starting October 20th students will learn about the term physical activity (moderate to intense), why it is so important, why guidelines suggest students should stay active for 60 minutes a day (minimum) and we will begin to talk about the 5 components of fitness (muscle strength, muscle endurance, flexibility, cardiovascular fitness, and body composition). Also starting in late October, we will begin our second unit which will be football. Our football unit is very basic, with a large emphasis on skill development as opposed to game play. Skills covered include: throwing, catching (stationary and on the move), punting and snapping.
