Week 1 lesson (all grades)

Hello Northwest Families!
I hope everyone is doing well!

Here is our physical education activity for week 1

Activity: Win It In A Minute!

How to Play: I will give you one minute to do each skill (in the video below) as many times as you can. You can try to beat your personal best or you can try to beat our (myself and my 2 daughters) numbers!

For our Bk-2nd grade students here are a few alternate challenges to the ones in the video

Instead of catching the ball behind your back: try to throw and catch the ball sitting on your knees

Instead of bouncing off elbow and catching: try putting it on the back of your hand, throw it up and catch it

Materials needed: one rolled up sock or small ball.

Set Up:
1) A place to throw a sock/ ball up into the air.

2) You will need an area as wide as 2 of you lying down on the ground (head to toe). Place an object at each end.

3) Lastly you will need a wall that you can throw your sock/ ball up to, and catch it when it comes back.

Remember, if you do your best you have already won!

Sparrow Hospital Run Club Parent Letter 2020

Sparrow Feelin Good Mileage Club 2020
Mondays and Wednesdays

Starting Feb. 1st and running until March 2nd, all 3rd-5th grade students can sign up for our free Sparrow Feelin Good Mileage Club. Our run club will begin on April 13th and it will run until May 29th (Run Club will be every Monday and Wednesday). Run club is a time for students to walk, jog or run during their recess time. Students will walk, jog or run around our ¼ mile track that surrounds our playground. As students complete miles they earn toe tokens (which can be placed on necklaces or on shoelaces). Toe tokens are earned at 5 mile intervals, with a water bottle being awarded to those students who reach the 20 mile mark. Miles will be documented on each runners run card, which will be passed out before run club begins. Run club cards will be punched, by volunteers, as students complete laps on the course. Please note that walking and running miles at home does not count towards our program, but it is encouraged to help build student endurance. Volunteers are what make this program possible, so if you would like to volunteer and help make this the success it has been in years past please fill out the below form and return it to me prior to our run club start date, please note that all volunteers must have a background check on file, these can be picked up in the office or printed online from the Howell Public Schools website. Thanks so much everyone!!!

Mr. Wildman J

Volunteers Needed!!!

Recess times (Mondays and Wednesdays will be our Run Club days)

·         3rd grade: 11:55-12:15

·         4th grade: 12:10-12:30

·         5th grade: 12:25-12:45

Last year it worked best having 1-2 volunteers per recess time. If you can stay for all three times, that is ideal, but not required and any help you can give is really appreciated!!! If at all interested please send the completed form (below) back to school with your student (and can be given to me). Thanks!!!!!
